Thanks for sharing your experience! Not sure what 拉線修眉 is called in English?
The closest I came to your experience was getting my eyebrows waxed when I was at a spa in London a few Christmases ago. It’s not really painful but again, you have to place total trust in the beauty therapist. Mine turned out okay I guess, though a little on the skinny side, and for a week or so I have to get used to seeing my reflections in the mirror as I kinda looked as if I were always arching my eyebrows even when I wasn’t! So now I just do my own eyebrow plucking, at least that way I have total control.
At least Mila you have that kind of shop in Canada, whereas we don’t have anything like it over here
snowdrops,
oh i guess Irelnd’s population is not very diversed like in Canada or US?
Sorry only remember to check back here now. Yes to answer your question Mila (and R&E?) [and sorry to have to put on boring lecturer tone again] Ireland is not really a diverse society precisely because it wasn’t established as an immigrant country like the US or Canada. Sure it had its Vikings invasion millenia ago and sure the English came centuries ago, but on the whole it’s been a pretty monocultural country until less than 10 years ago, when the so-called Celtic Tiger economy brought lots of Indian engineers, Malaysian doctors, mainland Chinese students, as well as many African asylum seekers over here. There really isn’t any pockets of ethnic communities here, I guess, with the exception of the minuscule version of “Chinatown” – a few streets in the city centre populated by mainland Chinese stores. There are a handful of Indian restaurants here and there, but there is not at all an Anglo-Indian community like you’d find in the UK.
So yes, sadly there isn’t any of the kind of ethnic beauty treatment salons like you’d have in the States and Canada.
[and okay, I really need to get off the subject of Ireland, I don't even talk about it that much on my own blog and I sincerely don't want to bore people to death here on your blog R&E]
How sweet that your neighbour gave Ah Bao the drawing board
Generally I don’t really like traditional Irish music, it’s great to dance to (as in ceili dancing which is a lot of fun) but I can’t stand just plain listening to it. But I do think some of it reminds me oh-so-very-much of Chinese folk music! But alas, I’m not a particular fan of Chinese folk music either…
