Are you talking abt salary increase in absolute dollars or dollars per hour?
Senior managers might earn higher wages, but if they have to be on-call 24/7 or work every evenings and weekends, then they are actually earning less money than their subordinates on an hourly basis. As well, unionized workers can claim OT while people occupying management positions cannot.
So, I agree with you promotions might not mean higher income.

實在做人做事最大的本領便是能安樂自在、自得其樂吧！
